Radical Technology

Myth

Prologue:

The book “Radical Technology” written by Adam Greenfield tells us about how the evolving modern technology impacts the daily lives of people. It tells us about the pros and cons faced by people in their advancing technological society.

Evolving Technology:

Currently technology has become a part of our daily life. In this advancing technological era many inventions are created and developed as the day passes. More popular trends like AI face recognition, AI artwork and Virtual reality are developed and used by many people for profession and entertainment. In this book, the author shows his perspective on this new creation of humanity whether this evolving technology is a friend or foe.

Baiting the Master:

Every one of us has a caring virtual assistant on our mobiles and laptops who would help us with our work and have a friendly chat with us. But, have you ever wondered behind their friendly tone do you think they have any difference compared to the normal search engines then why did you choose an assistant rather than a normal Google search? It is because of their nature to mimic human behavior in this modern world.

“  Any device connected to the network is baiting for the prey, and the market is the fisherman waiting for the prey”

Due to technology humans are becoming distant from each other which creates a void in their hearts and technology again mimics human behavior and fills that void. Sometimes instead of solving the problems new technologies create their own problem and provide their own solution. They are both the problem and the cure.

Perfection or Passion:

In this modern world, AI art has the ability to modify or create something that never existed before, it has perfection because it is built by well-defined principles and procedures to attain perfection. Based on this perfection criteria it is loved and accepted by many people around the world. But, what does true art require, is it require a pre-built perfection or heartfelt passion?

“ When we see an AI art built by its fixed rules and is flawless, we like it. But when the artist gives their passion and soul to art, we love it ”

Sometimes art doesn’t require perfection it just needs the passion of the artist. The passion for art connects people together and long last in history like famous paintings such as Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, Guernica by Picasso and many other artworks. Their artwork is not popular because they are perfect they are famous because they hold the strong passions and different ideas their creator envisioned in their heart.

Conclusion:

To conclude technologies have much good feedback too they have made our lives change for the better, made us more productive, and given us an advanced lifestyle but at the same time they have started to compete with humans instead of assisting humans. Technologies should be used to solve problems not to create new problems. A new technology should be offered as a choice not as a compulsion. And the choice is in our hands to choose what we truly want.
